Holy moly ya’ll. I know last year was so filled with rain that it drove me mad but when I tell you 2024 has been so sun filled - this is what I mean. Everything around Waterworks is sun drenched and I’m here for it! Was there still wind? Of course there was. So. much so that the centerpieces started dropping like flies and had to be changed out but it really doesn’t even matter. That’s part of the fun on a wedding day!

Daniela and Derek have such a fun love for each other it was really nice to watch them share some intimacy during their private vows and even a few of the cutest little tears. But what really got mine was Daniela’s Dad. Typically I just weep in the back corner about moments like this but I can’t stop thinking about it. They had a chair and picture set out for Dad during the ceremony and the way that the sun came in reflected right back onto to Daniela’s shoulder for a portion of the ceremony. Naturally at first I was thinking Damn - that hot spot is going to drive me mad. But then I realized what it was from and just lost it. Shooting weddings with an absent parent is always difficult but this just felt like a warm hand on the shoulder showing support and — I’m crying again writing this. It was just so sweet! Moments like that bring me back to the importance of a wedding.

Did they look absolutely show stompingly stunning? Of course. But these true truly enjoyed the people that surrounded them on their wedding day and it was so nice to be a part of. Enjoy their sun soaked late summer wedding at Waterworks.
