Laura and Mark
Hotel Du Village
New Hope, PA
Hotel Du Village is one of my favorite wedding venues in New Hope! Sadly for me, 2023 started off with some suspect weather and Mark and Laura got the brunt of it for sure. The forecast just wouldn’t change in their favor and we were left with a day full of misty air and damp grass. Does that mater though? Not at all. I know everyone pictures sunshine and rainbows on their wedding day with zero humidity and no rain in sight, but that is becoming more of a blessing than the norm. Be like Mark and Laura on your wedding day and don’t let the rain get you down!
Here’s a few helpful tips to survive your rainy wedding day:
Buy umbrellas. Buy them even if there is no rain in site and then return them. I’m fully convinced the rain is an equal opportunity when it comes to Murphy’s Law.
Bring shoes you don’t mind getting wet. You can always change these! I wore flip flops and went barefoot on my own rainy wedding day.
Be flexible with your beauty. If you wanted something soft and flowy - be aware of what your hair will do in the rain. This is the perfect opportunity for a sleek bun if you’ve ever wanted to try one. My bangs have a mind of their own in even humidity so in rain they don’t stand a chance.
Bring a blow dryer. Your dress is going to get wet. Period.
Have a rain plan for your pictures. Look around in the area and scope out every nook and cranny in your venue. Note down over hangs, large windows, and unique spaces that you can still utilize in the rain. Sun is not a factor here, so no worries about the lighting.
Embrace it. And this is the most important one.
I loved Mark and Laura’s rainy Hotel Du Village Wedding and their stunning floral installations helps to keep their indoor area warm and inviting for their portraits. Thanks for running out between raindrops with me and being flexible!
